Round The World Trip
In July 2006, the Steven Nevill family took a 30 day trip around the world.
Steve, Theresa, Chris and Laura visited:
-
Rome, Italy
-
Athens, Greece
-
Beijing, China
-
Tokyo, Japan
-
Maui, Hawaii
-
Oahu, Hawaii
The trip was fantastic! The hotels were great, guides superb, food
delicious, and even the weather cooperated. Except for the days in Japan,
every day was sunny and not too hot. If you have an interest in the hotels
or guides we used during our trip, just send us an email and we'll be happy to
give you references.
There are lots of great pictures from the trip in the
Gallery section. Just look for the
symbols from the map above.
Laura and Chris decided the best thing at each stop was:
Chris |
Laura |
ROME: Seeing the Vatican. |
I really loved going to the Sistine Chapel. The one major thing I
remember about the Sistine Chapel is Michelangelo painted the ceiling
when he was 20, and he painted the front wall when he was 70. |
Greece: Visiting the Aegina island off of Athens and
playing at the beach |
I guess my favorite place in Athens was the Acropolis. There were so
many legends to listen to in Athens; it was amazing |
Beijing: All the delicious food! |
I thought the Great Wall was fun, but it was not what I expected. Think
about a huge wall, then make it 10 times longer, VERY narrow, and put it
on an incredibly tall mountain -- and there you have it |
Tokyo: The Sensoji Temple and shrines |
I absolutely LOVED going to the tea ceremony. It was a lot of fun.
I wore a kimono and I was the Guest of Honor. The only thing was, the
tea tasted HORRIBLE |
Maui: The Four Seasons resort -- especially the free game
room |
I liked hanging out at the Kids Club and going snorkeling |
Oahu: Learning how to surf! |
I liked going to the Dole pineapple plantation and the Cultural Center.
Oh yes, and I liked surfing A LOT too |
Many thanks to my new friends at Federated for agreeing to let my family take this
wonderful trip.
